TA Genre Challenge - Round 4 ??

I've been thinking of reviving this, however am rather worried that it'll fail completely. More than half of the participants didn't do their mixes and some genres got a little too obscure.
So I want to the ask the DJs around here: Is there any more interest in this? Who would participate and can we really expect more than half of the mixes to finish?
Maybe the idea is dead for good, maybe it's not. Let me know what you think. |

| I'm down, but just as long as we limit the genre-naming. i.e. nothing too crazy and obscure. |

| I was actually just thinking about this the other day... I'd be interested if time allows. |

There is no objective limit for what is "crazy and obscure". That is the whole problem with this type of game, because once people get a genre they don't seem to like at first glance or never heard of before, they just won't bother/can't pull it off.
The whole game becomes pretty pointless if it has to be narrowed down to a spectrum of genres that is limited enough for "anyone" to know them. |

There is no objective limit for anything in music, but it doesn't mean we can't decide on a breaking point.
I'd be game for another round, but I really can't afford to be buying tunes I'll never play again, so I would appreciate it if we kept it to the kind of genre categories everyone will recognise. |

| I was wondering what happened with this... the problem I think was that genre challenges 2 and 3 happened in such rapid succession, people got burnt out so quickly. I'd be down for another one, but like others said, nothing too obscure. |

| I think I might give this a try this time around. |

Seems like there's a bit of interest, so I'll probably give this a go next week.
When it comes to obscure genres I'd say the participants should react during the nomination time and post that a certain suggestion is not OK. To me it seems that people hoped they wouldn't be the one to get it, and when they were they just dropped out. Of course I could take matters into my own hands, but then it'll just be Italo, Humppa, Eurodance and Trance. :toothless |
