As the 'whats wrong with trance' has cropped up before, rather than create another thread here, for the record, is my view:
1. Cycles
Music tastes come and go over the years and certainly the UK seems to still be into guitar bands again, R&B and Simon Cowell's pop creations. This will slowly change and the turn of the decade and recession may push on this change. Electronic music should make a comeback- but it may not be trance though.

2. No Signature Sound
There isnt a single production trick or sound that makes cutting edge dance identifiable- at least not as much as other sounds have defined a sub-genres: Korg M1s piano, organs + the Tr909, virus/JP saw pad, JV1080s pizzacato, autotuner etc.... Sidechained pads is the nearest signature sound at the moment.

Others no doubt will disagree.

I have to agree and disagree with that.Cant help think about ferry corsten on that one.
