| disappointed "The Road" didn't get a nomination. :( it should at least have gotten a nod for cinematography or costume. |

All of these awards ceremonies are a ing utter circle-jerk meant to get ratings so they can hype their own movies and sell prime commercial time at an excessive premium. Am I saying the movies, themselves, are detracted by the hype ritual? Not necessarily. But these events are basically just so they can have more self-aggrandizing crap to sprawl the cover of the DVD. |
You know very well that if you somehow acquired 15 minutes of fame and were invited to this ceremony, you would cut your Wednesday Adams hair, wash off your black nail polish, and take meth before you left in your most expensive-looking ensemble to keep your heart rate balanced in the event of a Meryl Streep sighting. You might even teach yourself to smile. |

| Oscar for Waltz is a given. Not sure about the rest, though I'd like to see Tarantino score some more. |

Like many, Avatar blew me away on the technical front, but I don't know if its story/plot material is worthy of Best Picture. Then again, let's not kid ourselves, it's probably going to win it.
I would love to see Inglorious Basterds steamroll every one of its nominated categories (give Quentin the trophy finally!)...and I can guarantee Waltz will be walking home with Best Supporting. He was phenomenal.
And...the Blind Side? Sandra Bullock for Best Actress? The movie was a huge hit, I won't deny it, and I heard it was heart-warming yada yada yada...but Oscar material? That came out of left field for me.
I need to see Hurt Locker and District 9... |

Yeah, I'm a little shocked not to see that anywhere.
It would of been humorous to see Sam Rockwell nominated for best actor and also best supporting actor, for the same film. To bad the judges don't have a sense of humour. |
