Best budget Ableton/Midi Controller/Mixer

When we get our tax return, I am gonna once again look into finally buying me an Abletron controller...on a budget.
I asked about this a long, long time ago...but then I got occupied with other things. At the time, the Evolution UC-33e was the one most people were recommending. It was $300 then, but I've found it for well under $200 now.
Are there any other controllers that are $300 or less that I should give a good look at? I haven't looked into this in awhile and dunno what has come out in recent memory.
Looking for something that has sliders + tons of knobs for EQs & effects. The Evolution UC-33e is close to what I need for comparison. Though I'd like to have more knobs per channel (if I was setting each columns of knobs/slider as different channels) if possible. So I can control EQs + some effects for each channel w/ ease.
Evolution UC-33e - oldie but a favorite. Dunno what's new out there. Help me out! Trying to stay $300 max. If I get a return on the investment, then I'll look to buy better gear after that. :)

I hate the UC33E. I can't believe people actually use it. I guess when it came out it was okay, and it does get the job done, but there are so many better options for not that much more money.....
Akai APC 40 is your best bet, this is the best price i've seen for a new one: http://www.audiolines.com/DJ-Equipm...1077/Akai-APC40
Also you can do the Novation Remote SL: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...O_SL_Mk_II.html
Just fyi I bought a brand new UC33e from a large electronics retailer on Ebay for $140 shipped. This was about a year ago. Here is a new one on Ebay for $170: http://cgi.ebay.com/Evolution-UC33E...#ht_2865wt_1167
Also I know you don't want to spend more than $300 but i've seen a few Korg Zero 8's pass through Ebay for $400-$500. Despite the Zero 8 not having the best layout I think this is an awesome price for what you get. |

Still ll not sure if it has the layout I want.
Anyone know how the Bitstream 3X is. Think that's another oldie, but can get for under $300 on ebay .

This one has the series of knobs I'd like. Don't like the left-to-right layout, but I don't mind rotary on the volume and while this one is meant for the Mixmeister software, I've read it works with everything in the end.
Just looks a bit cheap.
