They have Robbie Rivera booked the first thursday they are open so more EDM in the gaslamp! Ivy and Voyeur are a tad small for the big name DJ's IMO as these same Dj's play at circus/avalon/vanguard or ruby skye/1015 in the other big cities in CA.

opening March 12, the job fair was last week

PLUS more competition is A GOOD THING! makes everyone else step up their game

Can't wait!
I'm living in north county SD now and itching for some good music.

I am in North County, there's always good music but down in downtown...

As far as Fluxx, i read an article about it a few months ago. They are dropping a HUGE amount of money into the club. More competition is very good. But i am sure with so many EDM clubs and venues playing EDM, its only a matter of time until one or two goes under. That is just the nature of these things, especially in this economy. I know some places are struggling right now as we speak, take away some more clientele and its only a matter of time.

didnt expect many sdtas to post since many do not contribute on ta other than to post for the events they are affiliated with but perhaps just havent been on.

spundae was supposed to operate in SD but that never really went anywhere, perhaps they will be expanding their horizons now?

The population in the LA Metro area is way more than the SD area though. Right?

Plus, I don't see why all these venues/promoters compete on the same night? In OC, EDM night is Thursday, in SD its Friday, in LA, its Saturday and Monday.

I haven't been on here in quite a while, but I'm hoping to get info on any interesting events down here.

when on broadway used to have eventvibe host, you bascially had hollywood type crowds with sf attitude(good looking crowd, dress codes, but free guestlists and guaranteed entrances) since you work in the industry you know that at certain clubs in hollywood u can be first in line but if you dont have a certain ratio or getting bottle service you arent gonna get in.

sd has the clientele to keep an edm club's revenues high without having to charge $25 for entrance(even though some clubs still do that)

Nice!

Another option for EDM here in S.D.

I think its GREAT!

Nice!interested in the sound and lighting..

We'll see about it.. more EDM venues is really not what SD needs. the population for the music isn't big enough to support 3, 4 ,5 big Thurs-Sat night clubs. If On Broadway would finally die off it might be better.. Ivy people can stay in their bougoit hotel for all I care.

Let's hop this new place does it right. It needs to be set up for clubbing, not a multi-use space. They need a relaxed dress code. They need to utilize after hours. They need to have a friendly staff that doesn't make it obvious they're there only for the money (ahheeemm voyuer). They need tate of the art Sound and lighting.

I doubt most of this criteria will be met. If it is, hey! I'll be suprised and I might see some of you there.
Good Luck Fluxx
