Andrew Garcia - "Food of the Gods" [Dub / Tribal House]

My latest original production, "Food of the Gods" was inspired by Terence and Dennis Mckenna's foray into the Amazonian jungle in 1971 in their search for la Chorrera's entheogenic secrets.

In truth this represents a departure from my traditional big-room style of house or techno but I think it is very effective to communicate the meaning behind the track. Food of the Gods is full of lush tribal percussion and is driven in part by mysterious, other-worldy chimes and panflutes. Of course the main synth is the brooding engine behind the track's energy and I believe it does a fantastic job of pushing my genre-escaping theme right past your dance legs and directly into your mind.

I've added tons of compression and processing to give it an older, more archaic sound. It is also purposely stripped down a bit to best represent that style in my humble opinion.

I would predominantly categorize this as a set closer or perhaps an intermediary track in a more downtempo style of mixing.

Either way, make of it what you will- I simply ask that you enjoy my hard work :)

Hey thanks for the feedback. Actually regarding the bass, I recommend you listen to it on a PA or club system. On monitors it sounds "clean" or smaller like you mentioned but I've made it for a club where normally you would feel more of the bass physically.

Take care!

well 99.9% of the time i listen to tracks at home on my hidef headphones or hifi speakers.

i apologize for being a little harsh, i was expecting the bass to be more pumping, just a bias.[preference even]

cheers

Well, I appreciate your opinion nonetheless. Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to check your track out later today when I get out of work.

Thanks!

i like this, sounds are interesting while it seems it just that one groove you have layers underneath that keep it interesting. the dubby effects are a nice touch. i wouldn't call it set closer though, this would make good use in a build-up, close to peak.
