The down side of developer update announcements

...I feel sorta paralyzed waiting for some major new improvements that are coming to some of my key pieces of gear and it's becoming another convenient excuse for not finishing some of my tracks. Namely, the OS1.5 update for Maschine and the OS4 for the Virus TI. Especially the Maschine OS, which will add host automation and MIDI drag-n-drop to host, two essential features that should make Maschine near-perfect IMO and finally replace Battery 3 as my go-to drum instrument. But, I'm also dying to use the new arp features in the Virus.
In the meantime, I wait, and every time I fire up Maschine or Battery, I think to myself do I really want to do this now, or just wait another week or so until I get that new OS and everything will be so much more functional?
Does this happen to anyone else with new update announcements? |

I've been hesitant on using trilian until all the bugs/drop outs & extra synth presets have become available. the thing is so buggy in ableton for me (it loads maybe 25% of the time) that i haven't been using it nearly as much as i want to. i check the freakin website 3-4 times a week hoping for additional upgrades |

Don't feel bad - I sometimes check the Maschine forum 3-4 times a DAY! :nervous: ;) The OS is undergoing beta testing right now and they have indicated that the public beta will be available in mid-February, so any day/week now. |

I realize that, particularly with the Virus. But in the case of Maschine, the improvements are much more a matter of function - desperately needed functions that will improve workflow and instrument/host functionality dramatically. |

This is why I rarely buy new instruments... If you keep working with your old kit, you never need to worry about learning new gear, or whether its functional at release or not. Makes life a lot easier.
Although I did experience something similar in the wait for max4live. |
