never heard of him...
and it boggles my mind that someone who had millions, who was apparently admired by many (based on facebook status updates alone) - could take his life - while people in haiti, who own nothing, trapped under hundreds of pounds of rubble for days, come out with a smile on their face... unreal. |

I wonder what GaGa's reaction will be .. she was his newest muse.. no?

Walk walk, fashion baby, work it move that bitch crazy. Definitely a big lost to the fashion industry. His stuff was over-the-top bizzarre but his shows were so entertaining! That Gaga outfit was just ridiculous but made the video. RIP |

in the end money!=happiness
you could have millions and still suffer from some type of depression...
unipolar depressive disorders per 100,000

sure you have - his stuff is everywhere, just didn't know it was him
millions and fans do not make a person happy
he lost his mother a few days ago, as well as his close friend a year or so back
I'm guess he never managed to recover |

having all material possessions and fame in the world does not compensate your happiness. unfortunately he suffered through a series of depression stages after one of his closest friends passed away 3 years ago. Isabelle Blow was seen as the person who discovered his talent. he soon later dedicated a line to her live and thought it ended there.
however, just last week his mother passed away and i guess like someone said, he could not recover from it. i cant imagine what the rest of the family is feeling right now. as one of 6 children, being a family member and having 2 members pass away would be the most difficult situation a person can be in.
i just got home now and im still trying to find out details. crazy.
PS he even designed a canadian olympic scarf which was limited edition... i knew they had one, i would have bought one before he died ( i would have gotten it had i knew).
there were also line ups at the bloor st holt renfrew for customers wanting to buy a mcqueen scarf, but were limited to 2 person.

| i'm actually really upset about this. it's such a waste of enormous talent - the man was a genius and such a visionary. one of my favourite designers of all time. he made garments that were completely out there and weird, but then at the other end of the spectrum designed some of the most beautiful and exquisitely tailored pieces ever seen. so sad. :( |

i agree.
that he did that just makes me mad. so many people depended on this guy. many people's jobs. like his mom really wanted him to die too? i don't think so. suicide is soooo selfish sometimes. |

i agree that it looks selfish from the outside but some people cannot cope with their mental issues to prevent that.. |
