Yes, Spinetta (with Almendra) came several years before Soda, like you said though, Soda Stereo changed argentinean rock as people knew it at the time and to this day, they are considered pioneers of a sound that latin americans were not familiar with, nothing to do with that familiar argentinean blues Spinetta put out.
I once had the chance to meet and hang out with Charly Garcia some years ago, the rock lesson I got from the guy was ridiculous. I remember I was the most surprised when he said he actually admired Calamaro (Charly did Calamaro's wife and then Calamaro found out), and how he thinks Nito Mestre is a moron (same as Fito, lol). I also got to hear Kill Gil (his last album) before it was even mastered :D I always liked having conversations with geniuses, they see things in a different light.
BTW, any of you two remember Spinetta's son and his band Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas? :haha: I came across some old cds from when I was like 14, lol.
yea, charly is the man! i never met him but i did follow him intensely while i was in high school. haha, i had no idea he banged calamaro's wife thats hilarious!! i can't believe he said fito is a moron??? they did so many tracks and concerts together! he probably was high as usual on something haha.
yea actually ilya went solo as emmanuel horvilleur and released an album in 2007 i think, it;s a good sound (similar to babasonicos), he's been hanging out with cerati a lot lately and influenced him a lot on his fuerza natural release, which to my opinion sucked big time!! awful follow up to ahi vamos.

You're prob the last of Charly's fans that haven't heard of his antics :stongue: You know he threw himself out a 7th floor hotel window into a pool, right?
Calamaro found out about Charly and his wife and that's when Calamaro wrote "Alta Suciedad". And remember Charly is ALWAYS high, lol. But yeah, he did seem to hate Fito. A LOT.

yea i heard about that one. i really am more into his music as opposed to his antics. i actually think he comes across way too arrogant at times and it bothers me.
but then again cerati's wife was cheating on him and that's when he wrote pic nic en el 4b, lol.
in any case, to me calamaro, bersuit and cerati (solo) are my favorites. charly is a close 4th hehe nowadays.

Zoé has been playing this A-mazing version of No Hay Dolor
in their shows. usually the opening tune.
absolutely sick! i'm not really a fan of the original, definitely not my fav track of reptilectric but something to behold live.
they are the type of band i wanted to form when i moved to the city, alas, no luck.....
here is another band from Mexico City. love what they are doing.
their album is not that great, but hopefully they will improve in their next LP. this song though, i love.

I'm so freakin' mad! Spinetta did a concert last weekend and I just found out about it! :whip: :whip: :whip:
There's a concert on Aug 5th with Leon Gieco, part of the Chase Latino Festival in Queens.
If you don't know, Leon Gieco was part of Porsuigieco with Charly Garcia, Nito Mestre and others back in the late 70's and is considered one of the pioneers of argentine rock.
I haven't seen Leon Gieco live before, but I'm definitely not missing this one :)
