| Hi, im just wondering if anyone has had any experience with kore 2? and if so does it have envelope parameters, from what i can see it doesnt seem to. |

No, it doesn't have envelopes, or LFO's. That's something you need to set inside the VST(s). The work around I use, is I make everything pass thru an instance of Guitar Rig. Guitar Rig has Envelopes, and LFO's that you can assign to what every you want (amplitude, filter -when the pro-53 filter is loaded, etc). -Within GR of course. You can't use GR's envelopes to control something outside of GR or anything like that.
I'm sure you can make something happen with Reaktor, and the midi transformer, or sequencer... but I rarely use Reaktor, so I don't have any specific advice for you. |

| thanks for thge reply mate, havent yet purchased kore 2 but strongly thinking about it. so if for instance i was using an fm8 koresound i can change the envelope parameters in fm8 and they will be applied to the sound ? |

Kore is basically a VST host. -minus the sequencer/recording. It's also a patch librarian, FX processor... you can load it into a DAW and use it as a subhost... you can do a bunch of things w/Kore...
Say you have Kore, and Komplete.
You open up Kore (blank project), and start playing w/the browser. You find a sound you like, you double click it to load it. What you are actually doing is telling Kore to load the VST (FM8 in this case) where that patch you selected comes from. -you're hosting FM8 w/that patch selected. Kore is not loading the patch and acting as if it were the synth.
Now you can go into FM8 and start editing the patch. You don't need to mess w/the 8 knobs and their default assingments if you don't want to. -those are customizable if you want them to do something different, like control the different stages of an envelope.

I think I'd consider very carefully what you want kore to d before you buy it. I think you'll find it won't do it. Whatever it is.
It doesn't actually really DO anything after all. |

well ive never been the best sound designer, in fact i suck at it big time, so it will be nice to have a lot of good sounds that i can find easily but also change if i feel the need to. |

I was in the same boat as you are. That's exactly why I purchased Komplete 3 + Kore 1. I drove the whole thing from my MPC. I really learned a lot from using Kore and Komplete.
It's not perfect, but I still love it. It did, and still does everything I need it to do. -If it didn't I would not have bothered w/the upgrades.
But, there are several downers:
No multi-core support. Kore will only use 1 core. Every one is waiting for the ability to allow the user to enable/disable multicore support.
The step sequencer is monophonic. You cannot input chords. -There's a work around for that tho.
The arpeggiator does NOT out put MIDI. Gonna have to use your ears to transcribe. (FM8 is the same way... what a shame)
No multi-out support for VST's. Even tho there's a 16 out VST version of Kore2 that you can use in a DAW... For instance, you have a drum kit in Battery... Just a kick, snare, clap, and hats. In your DAW you can have 4 audio outs for Battery, and mix/eq/compress/effect each sound independently. In Kore, everything from battery is summed into a single stereo out. So you're gonna have to use Battery for all the FX, and mixing. The Kore FX will be global -affect all your drums. You can still open up more instances of Battery... but it's a drag.
It's the same deal when using Kore x16out VST. If you have a Kore project loaded in your DAW, and that project has several different VST's loaded, at least now each VST can have it's own audio out... but multi out VST's cannot take advantage of this feature.
I still don't regret buying it. It's a great way to keep everything organized -since I don't have the discipline to do it myself. The soundpacks are great. I enjoy the FX, and the routing capablities. If you dig into a lot of the Kore only patches, you can see that they did a lot of clever stuff in the programming and sound design. There's a lot to see, do and learn w/this thing.
It also keep your FX organized, just like the patches. You can search different types of delays, reverbs, modulation FX, or combo of them same way you can search for kind of patch. Whether it's just a basic delay, or crazy custom one from Kore, or something from Guitar Rig, or Absynth. -It's all there. Kore will keep you busy for a LONG time... :) |
