I simply don't have the time It's much easier to-
Give up
Find a recommendation from someone here
Listen to any number of progressive electronic genres

Lastly, Tiesto is a mainstream DJ, he has been since most of the people on this board where back in school being complete dorks. He did do some great stuff in the early 00's, heck I've still got some favourite remixes from that era that he did. But, it stopped and I stopped listening and quite happy to heckle from the sidelines on TA where no one famous comes anyway.
Trance DJ's are 'too cool' to come here and talk to the punters :D
They're too busy off getting T-shirts printed, their names on rubbish sneakers and finding a metric arseload of rubbish tracks that fist pumping drunken spastics and etards can jump around when they hear it.

However,
I'm also pragmatic enough to understand 'why' they do it, most industries are unforgiving of fools, the music industry from what I know is even more vicious and the smarter ones get with the act pretty quick smart or they just simply fade away into obscurity. So, he's done quite well at least getting some money squirreled away for retirement one day, which is a very important thing to do in his industry which one day may just simply turn on him and many other's with little or no warning.
For the cool tunes he did, I thank him
For the common sense to punch out of a dead genre I understand
I don't go to his shows because they hold no interest for me, that's life, jog on.

Gotta listen to some proper DJs..ill give u a list, listen to these fellas and you'll forget who the Tiesto of today.

Artists like Eelke Kleijn, Pole Folder, Hernan Cattaneo, Desyn Masiello, Omid 16B, Lemon8, Chris Healings, 16 Bit Lolitas, Henry Saiz, James Talk, J00F, Blake Jarrell, Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Pablo Denegri, Steve Bug, Will Saul..

i can go on :P but yeah you get my point. Tiesto is no longer king, i mean he never really was king but he was quite awesome in his day, same applies to PvD and Armin van Buuren. Produced some epic anthems in their prime, and instead of continuing their legacy, they prefer to make a ton load of $$

you see lilith its the like this that he produces which calls for his fans to turn on him, its a two way stream. if he continues to follow up on his legacy then people will always show up. take the ac dc concert that occured the other week. All they have to do is play a few of their classics and they make a load of $$$ they dont come out trying to play some taylor swift and expect the crowd to go wild. as for djscitec you are so right those big names are dropping out hard, however i must say i think the world loves AvB for different reasons which is why he is still king of today.

its mostly the fact that he produces music, runs ASOT and is a big name when it comes to any form of trance music. I dont think its his music that makes him popular, more of what he does for the genre and music itself that makes him king.

yeah.. imo his productions have taken a turn for the worst, a few tracks being exceptions but alot of stuff post 2006 from him I haven't really been that into.. dj sets are good though

nowdays I can't listen to trance at all. The other day tried on beatport and it was too much of a pain. One word CHEEEZZZZZZZZZZ.

Underground music still rules my world. So many throbbing tracks and artists comin out lately it's mind boggling. Some Aussie producers like Merkaba, Autonomech, Mollusk, S.E.T.H, Hedonix, ShadowFx, One Tasty Morsel, Tethrameth, Tristan Boyle etc creating wonders with their truly geniune sounds. Try labels like Iboga, Zenon, Neurobiotics, Iono

Just give it a go, sway away from that mainstream BS (I even LOL at JooF)and a world of wonders will reveal itself. I never looked back since 2007.
As far as I'm concerned all that Eurotrash trance can go to hell.

My two cents...
OkiDokie
Glad to hear that not just here we think Tiesto has gone down the hill...
He was good indeed, now is all about the money. Kindda like AVB.

I'm sure in 3 or 4 years we'll be listening to Armin's productions on the radio :stongue:
SteveStrangis
apprently hes appealing more to his american audience now.. who knows.

Maybe because there's where the money is :conf:

it didnt work lol - i dont get why tiesto didnt learn from that (i remember him bagging out oakenfold for going too mainstream and americanised after oakenfold was one of the main guys responsible for tiestos initial success).

then he goes and does :

really wierd history repeating itself.

but yeah meh - all this mainstream fluffy toy poo and stuff made by producers tryna climb the imaginary armada ladder will probably cave in on itself pretty soon.

luckily there is lots of totally awesome coming out everyweek that you just have to dig that little bit deeper for these days ;)
djscitec
i still think there are some good trance productions out there and a lot of talented producers like PROFF, Myon & Shane54, Gareth Emery, Ashley Wallbridge, Bart Claessen, 7Skies that have put themselves out in the mainstream area and a lot of the times people judge them unfairly because of who they are associated with but it is all about own taste.
