as others have mentioned, VLC player, CCleaner.
I also use Freshdownload as a download accelerator. It doubles my usual dl speed..sometimes exceeding the advertised speed by my cable company :wtf:

Security Essentials is all you need running. It protects against everything. Disable the other ones but keep them installed. I would update and run a full scan with each one every 3 months or so. |

| Windows Service Packs and drivers? You can tailor your own Windows installation disc using "nlite" to include all these things so you don't have to bother with them. You can also include regional settings and the product key so you don't have to about with that too. |

FFDShow is better and causes less issues. I used to use K-Lite, but found that FFDShow was much more streamlined and didn't have codec issues. |

at this point i dont even use anti virus anymore, ever since the x64 switch i said it. plus this one place ive been hanging at they make it seem worthless anyways. if a good hacker wants you to get infected, theres like all some av program can do anyway.

@ ben: cccp is exaclty like k-lite codec pack without all the trojans/spyware and more up to date and better config. still worthless though. |
