nothing wrong with this imo. if he was a black kid trying to paint his face white i would take 0 zero offence to that as long as he was not mocking anyone. |
Well said. You have to look at the intentions behind it which seem to be honouring MLK, pretty good thing for any kid regardless of skin colour imo. The only talking to I'd give him is that you need to be careful as there's hundreds of years of brutal history which lead up to a good chunk of society being overly sensitive (and rightly so) on the topic.
Now back to the pictures...

It's not wrong at all, considering his "hopeful" innocence of being in grade 2.
Now, if there was some 17 year old trying to pull this at school, I think we'd all maybe assume ulterior motives cloaked in honourable admiration.
I honestly saw that kid standing there and holding that paper and felt bad for the kid, as he probably just thought he was doing something nice to honour a historical figure. And then society has to go and pollute it with it's political or social anxiety and fear of offending someone. |

you gotta be kidding me right?
it's not like the kid had a bucket of kfc, overtly protruding lips, a can of grape soda in one hand, and a watermelon in the other
Give me a break. |

And your example is a movie... for entertainment. |
