PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria - At least 10 people were killed Saturday after a 33KV electricity cable fell on a bus and electrocuted the passengers inside, a police spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Rita Abbey said the death toll could rise further. An Associated Press cameraman saw more than 10 bodies at a local hospital.

The electrical cable fell during heavy rains in the provincial capital of Port Harcourt. The dead were mostly passengers but also included passers-by who were near the bus when the cable fell.

Apparently the bus was doing it's normal circuit when the line fell, the driver had just switched lanes and had insufficient time to conduct an evasive maneuver. After ample investigation local police have found the power company to be at fault, describing their maintenance record as revolting and have pressed charges.

Anyway, that story's like 2 days old now. How hard is it to keep the news current?
