Hi there.
So I've been listening to Electronica for years now, I'd say a good decade (I'm 21 at the moment), my cousin got me into it when I was younger. I've always had a nice music collection, but it was mostly tracks that I could get from him (not having my own computer just yet back then).
Currently I'm looking to expand into the music a little more, but I'm afraid my experience is limited to very mainstream artists (Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Picotto, etc) and very limited with the more lesser known artists (Serge Devant's "Gift of Life" is one of my favorite songs ever). As a primarily Drum n Bass listener, I've come to recognize long ago that the best tracks are usually done by the lesser known artists or niche composers, and I need your help to ID some of them in Trance/Techno scene for me. In other words, list your favorite artists/songs, or suggestions, unique albums, etc. Whatever you feel is worth mentioning that sounds great. I just need direction as to where to start looking.
Don't worry, I'm a staunch supporter of the music industry and have a subscription to a digital music service (Skyshare).
I'll be buying any tracks after previewing them on the Skyshare site, of course.
Thanks a ton, I'd really love to get some fresh tunes on my playlist to contrast with these much older tracks!! |

| Your request is waaaay to wide. Its like saying "recommed me music where someone sings" or "recommend me music with a guitar", noone can help you until you request something more specifigc (ie. the subgenre you are looking for House/Trance/Techno/Breakbear/Harddance etc.) |

Let's start off with trance and techno first then. Let's say, songs/albums from the past 5 years or so up to now. |

lets start off by you going here: www.beatport.com, and previewing tracks of every genre until you find some you like...dig deeper from there.
no one will be able to tell you what you will like, so find out for yourself.
wtf is sky share? |

Their music service is called Skyshare. They've got an insanely sized library, I've been able to find songs that I couldn't find anywhere else.
I don't like songs with vocals, or guitars or any other kind of instrument that tries to 'stand out' in the song. I prefer songs that are purely 'electronic', if that makes sense. |

I second that. Also I recomend Tiesto's new album Kaleidoscope, and Armin's CD Imagine. Both are classics, make me cry everytime I listen to them! :) A true hardcore trancer can't miss either! |

You guys are mean :p
To be more serious @ the thread starter, do you honestly think a site that charges 15 cent per track is perfectly legal? They don't hand anything to the labels or the artists, so in fact you are paying money for pirated tracks :p
Oh and if they are russians, you are ed, because they will take your credit card and other data, too and scam the out of you :wtf: |

i don't think it is mean to point out a site like beatport and ask him to figure out his taste for himself. He will be able to satisfy his own musical needs much better than people who do not know him.
Mean would be suggesting Tracking Treasure Down.
ps op: Tracking Treasure Down. |

Damn, the sarcasm in this thread has gone way overboard. Talk about an elitist forum, the Dogs on Acid forum aren't even this bad.
Bunch of jerks, I've been using that service for years now, at least its community is a bit nicer than you peeps, what a shame. Way to turn away a new forumgoer (not that it matters but w/e).
Sheesh! |
