Originally the debut release on Steel Fish’s first incarnation back in 1996, the self-titled Qattara track was a big club hit for Alex Whitcombe and Andy Cato. Re-mastered for 2010, the hugely popular Pure Mix gets a second chance to strut its stuff in its full old-school epic, piano driven trance glory.
The Truth was originally released in 1997. Appearing here in two versions, re-mastered for this release, are Qattara’s Coufsat Mix and Qattara’s Halahitim Mix which both tore it up back in the day with the combination of roof-raising piano melodies and acid-soaked, pumped up electro basslines.

Yay! The Coufsat and Halahitim mixes are by far the best versions of the Truth, I think I played my 12" to death years ago. :p Great to get them digitally!
Whitcombe & Duffy's recent outings on Steel Fish have that old skool prog house feel but still far from the glory days of the epic rolling pianos and warm pads of Qattara.
I wonder if they will be releasing anything else from the Steel Fish backcatalogue in the future... |

| Sweet. I hope they do this with other releases on Steelfish. The more recent Stereo Drive is a tremendous tune, for instance, but the pressing sounds quite muddy and cluttered, to the point where I think it'd lose quite a bit of impact on a bigger system. |
