i heard like two bars and was like it's chimera, bam! anyway, andy moor played kookhaus not zack unless he played it prior to about 11:10. andy played a bunch of tracks i feel you would find in a markus schulz set so that was good stuff.
zack did play cirez d - glow which i was a huge fan of... |
Chimera and Glow were some of the highlights of the night to me, so many good tracks. The sound was great. The sound guy there is no joke, he was walking around the club with a db reader app on his iphone, lol. Good times  |

This was a really fun night all around. Andy's set was really upbeat, energetic, and created a very uplifting vibe. Awesome crowd, everyone had room to dance and everyone was having a good time. One of the most fun parties I've been to in a long time. Hats off once again to Massive for putting on a quality show.
I have to say in particular that Zack's set was awesome, and one of the best I've ever heard from him by far. It was well programmed, perfectly mixed, and the flow was incredible. It reminded me actually of the article Zack posted on Facebook from rhythmism about what it takes to be a good opening DJ. He progressively built the energy throughout the beginning so smoothly that by the time Andy came on the crowd was ready to rock out, and creating that kind of fun tension takes a lot of skill from a DJ, and should not be underestimated because it is arguably one of the most difficult things to do as a performer. Excellent stuff Zack, its sets like that that really separate the men from the boys in our local scene :)
Also, yumpop, I would like to once again apologize for spilling that drink on you, my clumsiness and lack of coordination never cease to embarass me lol. I owe you a drink at your birthday at Pacha :)
Great seeing everyone else too, can't wait for the next one! |

| I just remembered Arnej - They Need Us (Club Mix) was somewhere in his set. |

I noticed this about Zack when he opened for Sander at pacha last year. He really built it up nicely and proved himself when he closed with straight bangers. It's true, it's really easy to play one bomb after another...another thing to tell the story leading up to the climax |

this venue is awesome. The sound and crowd were amazing. staff @ the venue were hella nice. I hope more parties are set up @ santos.
Zach: Thanks for the list and happy bday again. Your set was on point. no complaints whatsoever. the last couple of tracks you dropped made me go :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:
This was my first time seeing andy moor and he didn't disappoint. He kept the party going full blast and every track was a tasty treat. What time did he spin till? I left around 430ish.
It was nice meeting other TA's as well. Sorry if i was rude just barging and introducing myself or asking if you were a TA. I didnt know any other way to do it. lol:haha: |

Zack's one of the best, not because I know him, but because I think he truly is good at it... It's bittersweet for a DJ to hear that he's a "good opener", but it takes an immense amount of skill in programming just the right set before some of these big guys... Jollins is obviously great at it too, and Serge Devant played some epic opening sets before Corsten for the L.E.F. residency... Zack's definitely in that league... From one DJ to another, I hope you can see that as a compliment haha..
As for the night, disappointed I didn't make it, wasn't feeling good at all as the hours went by, and by the time it hit 10PM-ish, I was ready to spend the night sick in bed... |

Hell of a night! Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Last night was the perfect way to celebrate. :)
Hats off to Massive for putting together such a great event...dynamite turnout, vibe, everything. I really hope more trancey events get thrown at Santos, as its such a cool (and loud!) spot.
Musically, I thought Andy played great. He straddles the line between the proggier stuff and the full-on trance really well...much like Gareth Emery does. I've actually had the pleasure of opening for him everytime he's played NYC, and its always a blast. The guy absolutely cracks me up to. Some funny stuff going on up on stage towards the end of the night. :toothless
For those who asked about a tracklist btw, I'll try and put one together later tonight and get it up.
Thanks again to Massive and the Dance.Here.Now guys for having me, and everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Last night was so much damn fun...can't wait to do it again. :) |

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. :)
I agree, I think a lot of people underestimate the importance of the opening dj's set, or don't understand what it entails. Its a balancing act...get people ready for the headliner, without overstepping the role. I won't lie, its tempting sometimes to go for the homerun. But I've seen first-hand how that kind of mentality can royally up a night, especially for the headliner, who the night is really about.
Anyway, thanks again.
BTW, saw your name on the 3/5 Pacha night flyer. Looking forward to hearing you play that night. :) |
