Stole? Most of them were based on Paul Jennings' books/stories, right? I used to have most of his books as a kid. They were pretty cool.
Ah right. It's been 10-15 years since I read those books and as a child does I imagined them being set where I live. There was nothing particularly Australian in any of them. So when I saw the show and it was obviously set in Australia featuring Australians who lived in a lighthouse (?) I just assumed they'd half-inched the plots.

Haha, ok yeah, I can imagine how that must have been a bit weird. When I read them in school, he was getting quite a few awards for his writing, so we all knew he was an Australian writer. In my head, all his stories were set here :p

this thread suddenly took the same course as that episode of family guys...
starts out as a discussion about one thing, then goes completely off track and into a whole new discussion with stories, memories, debates...then comes full circle back to the original topic, surfinbird.

On the Aussie angle, did you hear that Men at Work got are being sued for allegedly stealing the flute line in "I come from a Land Down Under", from the children's song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree"?
