KIND was all set to hold their 3rd or 4th rave in the city, in a warehouse somewhere out in the east end. The promoters told the venue owner they were using the space for a video shoot. Much to their dismay, he rolled in around 8 p.m. to check in on things, discovered what they were really up to, and promptly gave them the boot.
Scrambling to sort out where they were going to fit 2,000+ expectant ravers, they called the Guv for backup, and were told that they could use the Warehouse (now the Kool Haus) to open the party, and that they could take over the Guv once the Saturday night club crowd had thinned out.
My best mate, POA, was the first DJ on when the Guv (re)opened for the Kind crowd, and I was there to film the progression, from empty room, to total glowstick, whistle and phat pants mayhem:
