| you'll never win - with the task of cleaning up the forum comes the subjectivity of responsibility, often which blurs the lines between what your friends (or all of us collectively) voice that they want between what's the 'correct' thing to do. it's a difficult task to appease everyone Z, good luck and I know exactly how frusturating this can be. |

However TA makes me sad now. These few threads about things we're not happy with are the most interesting discussion that we've had going on here in forever. Anything else that would have been interesting has been moved.
In my opinion the main issues before when we had an inactive mod were the spam, and having 90000 threads about the same event. The new events subforum was neither here nor there to me. I like it, it's much more organized. And I like it even better now that you can put the events on the main page and they move to the top with the most current post like they used to. It's really nice having only one thread per event now.
Other than those issues, I liked things the way they were. To me a message board is a place where I can address multiple people publicly and have them reply to me. Or I can read an reply to something someone else has written and join in a group discussion.
When writing something in a regional forum, I do it because I want to discuss it with those particular people in that forum/area. Otherwise what's the point of having a regional forum at all? I don't think it should be meant just to announce local events. NYTA used to be a community. Now it's just a party planner.
It seems to me that we no longer have the freedom of speech that we once had around here. I miss being able to discuss things other than events with you guys. I don't see anything wrong with being able to discuss sports, dj advice, or any other topic with you guys so long as it's not offensive.
Moving threads seems the same as censorship to me when the people I want to read them never will.
Z, this is not directed towards you. You're doing an awesome job of upholding the rules around here.
Swamper, would you please allow us to have a little more freedom around here? |

i agree, ive never found those parts of the forum interesting at ALL (and that trolling just makes it even less attractive of an option). when i do go outside of NYTA, i tend to read other regional forums of interest to me (TOTA, West Coast and FLTA are the 3 i frequent most). Rarely the 'general' ones. |

yea that was my thread...it was for that simply reason and many more topics such as sports, snowboarding/skiing, stupid funny vids is what made this community within the forum appealing and interesting for me to visit on a religiously daily basis. but now, just about any thread ive created has been closed. its a community, most of us which post frequently that would like to hear other peoples, if not friends, voices. i dont see why these topics should be weeded out. everyone was just complaining about the multiply 23940823489+ armin/pvd threads, the $13 nike sneaker spammers. I give credit to Z for taking control but perhaps its going a tab bit too far. Now, that i come to check something of interest while im bored as hell at work...i wont find anything. And if i do happen to catch something and check it out-- 8 out of 10 the thread has been closed.
ive been going to the c0r to satisfy my boredom but its just too weird in there with the ppl that frequent bc i guess its only them that understand their own one-liners or whatever it is that they post that i find COMPLETELY irrelevant to the thread. |

why is all of TA completely fine but you guys? I understand alot of you guys are friends - but this is a forum. Not a friend forum/discussion. If you guys want to be all buddy buddy then post your interview as a facebook event and whore it out there if u want everyone to see it. That's not what regional sections are for
What brian said is right - the whole forum line with u guys is insanely blurred. I have been active for years and I am from another local regional section and have never seen so much bitching and whining except for when Florida wanted to become seperate from the SE section. Eons ago!

I think NYTA needs a neutral mod so you guys dont go attacking Z and so Z doesn't have to defend herself by blaming it on Swamper. Don't like it? Stop posting if you can't seem to click outside of the regional section. |
