Here is an exclusive interview we did with Neil Quigley for this upcoming show. He's pretty pumped for Friday as are we!

Here's an interview between FABRICATED's Steve Mack, and Neil Quigley about Neil's reactions to his last show playing for us at Stone Lounge, his excitement about the upcoming show this Friday, what he's been working on and where he got his start. It's a great read, check it out!

FB - This past Boxing Day you played your first open to close set for us. It was definitely our best party and everyone who was there said it was quite a legendary night. What did you think of that first Fabricated party in Toronto?

NQ - I enjoyed it very much and am pleased with the reaction it got from both those there on the night and those who listened to the recording afterwards, but I could have done a lot better. I’m never satisfied! However I was recovering from a bout of flu and had a few technical issues that night, but now *touchwood* I'm as fit as a fiddle now so Friday will be even better!

FB - We’re really excited to have you play again for us on April 16that Stone Lounge. We’ll even be extending the night till 4am this time. What do you like about the venue and what sort of things have you been doing to prepare for your marathon set?

NQ - A small venue with a low ceiling, with decent sound and enthusiastic people; they’re the three key ingredients for an atmosphere that I relish. Making the switch from decks to Traktor has allowed me much more creative expression, making the preparation almost fun as the DJing.

FB - As a DJ it’s rare to play the whole night. What is it about being able to play from start to finish that you enjoy? Do you get to play open to close sets very often?

NQ - Well I’ve always especially enjoyed playing from the start dating back to the Bedrock days, and with no other DJs to consider, I have even more freedom and can afford to take a few more risks. If only every gig was like this! For this opportunity I have to thank the Fabricated DJs for giving up their slots, it’s very generous and much appreciated.

FB - What do you think of the Toronto crowds in general?

NQ - Love them! I've made a lot of friends there and with every visit there are more and more familiar faces.

FB - We hear that you and The Timewriter are collaborating together and are going to start a new label soon. Can you tell us a bit more about this and how it came about?

NQ - I've always been a big Timewriter fan, and Frank and I have become good friends over the past few years. We're pretty much on the same page musically, so we thought we'd join forces and create a vehicle, Goldwerk Music, for putting out our own music and eventually, other people's. We plan to back our output up with regular label parties in our respective London/Frankfurt homes.

FB - What other things have you been up to lately? Any upcoming gigs or new studio productions you’d like to tell us about?

NQ - Lots and lots of studio work, working on original material for Goldwerk and quite a few remixes on the go too. I've also recently finished an original track featuring the vocals of Blakkat's Mark Bell, which I'm really happy with. It's called 'Without You' and will be out around June on Smalldog Records. Other tracks/remixes which I finished over the winter will be released over the next few weeks on labels such as Urbantorque, Manual Music and Sudbeat.

FB - What is your musical background and how did you get into DJing?

NQ - At the risk of sounding clichéd, I listened to electronica from a very early age and then acid house came along while I was at school. DJing was nothing more than a hobby for a long time, just making mix tapes for my friends etc. But this led to being offered a gig in a major London club, and from then on there's been no looking back!

FB - Can you give us the names of any new tracks you’re excited about that perhaps you might play at the next Fabricated party?

NQ - Last week I received a remix of ‘Without You’ by Italian duo Tone Float which is absolutely fantastic. I was tempted to send it to a couple of bigwigs to play in Miami but thought, ‘No, I’ll keep this one just for myself!’

FB - Right now it’s pretty tight at the top of the premier league with Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal all separated by a couple points. Who do you think will win the league this year?

NQ - Well it looks like it's going to be Chelsea, unfortunately! However the standard of our top teams has been pretty poor this year, illustrated in their absence from the Champions League's last four. I watched the Real Madrid Barcelona match last night, and their football was on a completely different level.

We hope everyone's geared up for this Friday's big event with Neil Quigley's return to FABRICATED. For this event, we're trying something new in order to accommodate all of you coming out. As some of you know, we share a line with Revival to get into the club, and at times this line can get a little long. Since we're expecting a big turnout for Neil this Friday, we've been able to send out this special Line Bypass ticket. All you need to do is, PRINT it, and present it to the bouncer at the door in order to line up separately from the Revival line. We hope this makes getting into Stone Lounge much quicker and easier.

Can't wait to see you all out on Friday, and don't forget to PRINT OUT THIS TICKET, in order to get in faster and not miss a beat!

Well, we were holding on to hope as long as we could, but unfortunately we have to bring you the disappointing news that Neil Quigley will not be making it into Toronto for tonight's FABRICATED party. Due to volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland all flights from London have been grounded since Thursday morning. However, the show must go on! We hope to see you all out tonight for resident DJs Steve Mack and Matt Coleridge, and we're working on a third, cover will be free! So come out for a "Damn You Volcano!" party and dance away tonight to some wicked beats! See u there!
