Yeah i been hearing good things about pro tools and i want to try it out. I went to digidesign and i couldn't find, it could mean there isn't one, but i just want to make sure.

wasting your time. Unless I suppose if you are recording 24+ tracks at high definition audio.

I don't think there is a demo.
A long long time ago there was a demo of protools for pc that u did not need to use protools hardware to run it!
Protools is not all that but its a nice tool to have.
Good for rappers, singers, live recording and some audio editing!

no vst
midi sucks
pcu hog

btw

I did like 100 or more projects in protools and got paid for my work!(Had a ad on a news paper for my services!)

Discontinued Pro Tools FREE for Mac OS 9 and Windows 98/Me are no longer available for download or on CD.

There are no current plans for a standalone version or a free version of Pro Tools for either Mac OS X, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.

Why would anyone want protools for making EDM?

I studio engineer with it for emo bands (yuck) and I HATE PROTOOLS to work with. Love the converters though which is what is giving the quality of the sound everyone raves on about.

Sorry I wasnt being arsey then, its just protools is basically only good for recording audio into. For arranging editing etc etc all the other popular DAWs are way easier to use.

Plus its thousands of pounds/dollars? unless you have a studio like a recording studio I just wondered why you would want it?

yeah well if you had all your individual tracks drums/bass/percs etc mixed down and then ran them out of protools into a desk that would make sense. I'm talking about your average TA like me for instance makes music with logic/cubase couple of bits of outboard gear and a midi keyboard. You wouldnt need it then? unless you mean the M-box which is good for say recording some vocals or a guitar into?
