If you read the other thread you will know i had a pc issue, anyway as it's generally running slower nowerdays I have decided just to re-format.

I have the original disks etc for cubase and my dongle so thats gonna be ok. How do i back up say a half finished project file?

I have this idead when I come to load some things im working on its gonna say all the audio is missing, the vsts are not connected etc etc. Is this avoidable?

Cheers

If you setup your new computer (or hard disk, wtv) the same way the old one was setup you shouldnt have any problems (same pathways, folder hierarchy)

I actually just did it 2 days, copied my whole music folder, installed cubase, plugins, and opened my projects, no problems.

However if you renamed your drive from C to D for example or stuff like that, or you move your sample library, then things might get annoying...

Yeah your right its just a case of being careful to back everything up properly I think.

So as long as cubase has the same version same vst folder etc the fact its a new install of the vst wont matter, my piano midi from nexus will still go to nexus same patch etc?

If you arent importing all audio files into the project folder automaticly you might see some backup problems.

In this case just backup all projects with the Cubase backup function.

If you are importing all audio files into the project folder all you have to do is copy the project folders to another location.

Or alternatively just use a different HD partition for the reinstall and you will be sure to not lose anything.

It doesnt even have to be the same version or Operating system, as long as the plugin is installed it will work just fine.
