2009 was Alan Fitzpatrick’s year. Having enjoyed a rapid ascent from new kid on the techno block to a highly respected and in-demand producer, Alan goes from strength to strength with critical acclaim for his productions and demand for his DJing coming from all corners of the globe. Currently locked away in the studio writing his debut album for Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label, it is hard to imagine how Fitzpatrick’s stock could be any high having rounded off 2009 with one of the best received tracks from Adam Beyer’s epic Remainings III remix package to follow a BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune and chart topping EP’s for Drumcode.
Straw Hats is instantly recognizable as a Fitzpatrick bomb. Pounding and intense, the authority this high-impact track commands is backed up by subtle elements of funk and melody woven into the tough uncompromising groove.
Dustin Zahn provides two alternative versions in the shape of the high tempo Flight 6240 remix with its epic structures and throbbing hypnotic riff and the Warehouse Dub that places the elements in a raw, stripped back atmosphere.
