Audio Interface questions (for pros)

so ive been thinking... i own a novation xstation running on some SWEET mackie monitors. however. im thinking of upgrading as i hear apogee is the BEST interface for Mac DAWs (just because the drivers are soo good).

so i know when it comes to audio interface quality... the biggest factor are drivers drivers drivers for your os.

my main usage is just playback for monitoring.
i am doing some minor vocal recording but only using a SM58mic which will end up getting heavily processed anyways and an electric guitar which will get run through heavy processing again via guitar rig so im not worried about input recording quality too much..

BUT. i am sorta paranoid on getting the best sound quality (and i know the novation x-station interface is a lil dated).

so....

we all know that apogee's soundcards (ensemble, duet, and one) are primo on a mac... but
how does the novation x-station compare (ON A MAC) to say....
vs an M-audio interface
or vs the Access Virus TI
or vs a Focusite Saffire

also. is the difference noticable?
i hear the stereo seperation, clariy, and dynamics on an apogee are phenomenal... but of course. this is all hearsay. nothing ive tried for myself. so any experts out there with any opinions????

ps. i dunno if it matters but im running logic as sequencer

I'm not sure how the quality compares between then but I feel inclined to say the x-station probably has the most inaccurate output out of all 4 options as it's a bit of everything (soundcard, controller, synth) for little $.
Depending on which m-audio interface you're using the other 3 options probably are quite close to each other in terms of quality (allthough I'm not sure about the TI, but I can't check as I only got a KC). The Apogee Ensemble, of course, is in quite a different league.
