Hey fokes,
I have been waiting eagerly for a response from Motu tech support as i sent them a question to my concern, however after several days nothing so i thought I would ask someone here who may know more about the tech side of ther power imputs.
I have a 828 purchased in the states which i am now wanting to use. I did recently swap over the power lead to suit the Australian wall plugs. Now, the only thing i have done is turned it on breifly for a minute or so up to the point where it said its welcome message etc, motu 828mk3 then i presume it went into set up. It made no noticable problems on start up even though the power output here in Australia is considerably different to the states 240v/110v. So even tho it fired up the motu and gave the appearance of looking ok, i dont want to fry internals - just in case.
I am aware of a step down converter unit to compensate for the power differences between US and AUS, however coz the unit started up alright i am thinking it may be ok..., but to be sure to be sure
any help any help much appreciated, :gsmile: |

If it wouldn't convert the power you would have fried it already ;). Or blow a fuse if it has any. |

bloody just sent motu another email. Yeah so true, it didnt make any funny electrical smells like it was cooking inside or anything. And, it did seem fine, but i am thinking maybe if its on for an hour or so i will hav a system melt down :nervous:
edit: i just did a google (yibiddah) search and its looks like they have 'auto switiching power supply' on them, if someone can confirm this that would be great,
as its not in the manual. |

Your pretty game to just plug it in and turn it on with no thought to the fact that you might blow it up.
Luckily most modern audio hardware is made for people like you, and usually has power supplies that can run off either type of power. |

everybody makes mistakes, even when they are blatantly obvious. If he broke it and pays the money to fix it or buy a new one, then its no harm done at all. |
