Where's the outpouring of support for Chile?

Something about how their head government officials have all claimed that they have the infrastructure and ability to deal with this crisis all on their own may have a lot to do with it.

The outgoing president is getting a lot of heat on that. Some say she should have deployed soldiers to the streets much quicker. |

It is in Haiti - where is it for Taiwan. Fact is that haiti is just plain poor (even there could be few more people driving luxury cars there after all the 'aid'.
Chile really isn't as effected by what happened because it didn't effect their economy as heavily - even though it it was a stronger earth quake.
A chunk of properties were covered by private insurance. Of course some peoples lives were likely devestated by the quake chile is a rather large country and the industries arn't as heavily hit. While Haiti really did get hit, high death rates. Chile was fairly contained although the economic damage was real, Chile was and is able to cope with the situation without the risk of collapse of their government and rule of law which happened in Haiti.
Those who were hardest hit in Chile were likely the poor, and guess what, they will still be poor. |
