Okay,
I've been on the hunt for awhile on how to make gated vocals that really help a track drive. One in particular that caught my ear would be the vocal fx that come in at 2:07 on Mark Sherry's "Starglow":

Also in this as well in the very beginning:

Also I've heard a lot of stuff like this in some old school psy...like stuff Christopher Lawrence used to play. If anyone knows specifics on how to make this or come close to it please let me know. Somehow I feel like Rob Papen's Predator would be good for this because I'm awful at creating vocal sounding FX from scratch on plug-ins. |

mg_trigger gate is good too.
but if you want to know how it's done, er, well i think they just slapped a gate on it. |

| Gross beat on fl9 ftw! |

| volume automation will do it |

| Using a slicer would be easier, I think, at least for stuff like the first example. Otherwise just putting a gate over it or volume automation would be easy enough. |

| Use a device like a pattern sequencer to trigger the gate input for the volume. You can create what ever pattern that sounds good in the pattern sequencer to create the chopped vocal effect. |
