:haha: What?
I still buy records when I can afford it. Not many stores here though so get a lot from the net.

It might be fine as a hobby. But it's probably one of the worst businesses you can open right now.

Not a solid business decision. Music stores selling compact discs are going under, record stores? I say you only stand a chance if you live in a huge metropolitan area, and there isn't one at all.

People who buy records nowadays order them online, much wider selection. I wouldn't even bother. If you must, start an online record trading store and work out of your basement.

Hell yeah, I still collect them!

i prefer going into a store than buying online. i never know what i'm looking for or what i want, sometimes i just take a handful of random and listen to it, i get surprised many times

it's always nice to help support small shops too

i buy records

mostly old and used records, though.

Old and used records still. A lot of good dance music you can't find for legit purchase as Mp3s.

Opening a purely dance record store would be a horrible decision though. The market is too fickle and the media has changed obviously.

I still buy records all the time, but opening a store for it sounds like a god awful idea.

I don't think a brick & mortar store would be very viable unless you offered a TON of extras outside of vinyl. I.e. clothes, CDs, equipment (maybe), books, art...it would be in your best interest to be a ticket outlet as well. You'd probably have to look into selling hip hop/club service vinyls, maybe even offer DJ services (lessons / mass cd burning).

Kind of a one stop shop.

I've thought about doing this myself, but I just can't get the math to work. It's doomed to be a massive failure, considering I would have to charge somewhere near $30 per record in order to barely make a profit.
