You guys have to understand the nature of webforums.
Through natural processes, threads either survive and sit at the top and rack up tons of responses. OR if there is no interest in the subject it sinks down to the bottom and is forgotten.
Everytime someone decides to bitch and moan, they inadvertently bump the thread. Why the cant people understand this concept.
Also who says this forum is about only music? A quick glance shows a plurality of different topics. The reason I check this forum is to see something new and interesting. Hell, if we're gonna purge this forum of ridiculous threads, lets please start with the Jersey Shore thread.
I dont think Jay oversteps his boundaries. His bias is clear, but who isnt biased? Discuss or dont discuss. Thats all there is to it.

Well said.
On a side note, I have that picture framed in my office. It was a gift, and I love it. |

Oh don't get me wrong I do NOT have a problem with his view point or discussing politics.
However, I DO get very annoyed at constant threads of a similar nature popping up every day about the same thing. Just as if someone were to post random youtube videos and making new threads about each one. Hence the one giant youtube vid thread.
All I'm suggesting is that is it really that hard to come up with ONE thread and put all your ideads in that and if it gets bumped it gets bumped, if you find a new issue in the news politically throw it in there? Is that so hard?
Also I never said he was wrong, I just disagree with his constant posting of threads when if anyone else did the same thing with a different topic they'd get bitched out like crazy (not that he doesn't get bitched at) but you get what I'm saying?
I think he's just trying to grab attention to things he's annoyed at by posting individual threads every single time, but that's just me.
Also I'm not saying purging the forum with ridiculous threads. Keep the jersey shore thread, the iphone thread the other stupid threads there, as long as they're in one huge one it doesn't bother me. What annoys me are 40 million threads about the same topic...
I'd say the only kinds of threads that should be abundant are review threads b/c well we are the kind of site and community that goes to parties/likes a certain kind of music , each party should be different, hence a different thread. |

Yes, but a city councillor acting like a buffoon in city hall and shouting down a citizen is an entirely different issue from a politician moving to ban something, which is an entirely different issue from a politician trying to provide socialized services we canīt afford for the masses, which is an entirely different issue from a politician cutting services to balance a budget. And all of these issues are important. I donīt believe, for instance, that someone like the woman in this video deserves to be re-elected, if for no other reason than she would rather shout down a citizen than discuss the issue. Politicians write the rules and handle our tax-dollars. Which is a little more important to our everyday lives than the cool youtube video you found last night, or the cool feature they added to the newest iPhone.
The thing all those mega-threads youīre asking for share in common is that they are often completely ignored, and also completely unimportant. Except for the rare occurance where someone finds a new video to add, that is subsequently ignored, they spend their days 4 pages deep on the list waiting for their next bump.
Jayīs threads are often about frivolous items, but they DO, almost as often, spark a lot of discussion about the issues that heīs raising. I, for one, believe that each significant issue should have itīs own headline, if for no other reason than to draw attention to a potentially important issue that would otherwise be lost in one big "JayX1īs Political Griping" thread. |

ditto.
the video stands on its own merits...she acted like a ing tool and that behaviour ought to be subject to disciplinary action. I don't know why it couldn't just be positioned as such.
the rest is fluff. |

I think it's ironic that people want to Jay to relegate all of his posts about current events into a single thread when it's par for the course for many people on this forum to bash Americans, Republicans, Conservatives, or what have you in completely unrelated non-political threads.
These are marked with a big fact <<< RIGHT-WING LIBERTARIAN MATERIAL IN HERE >>> sticker and people complain, whereas it's apparently perfectly OK for people to rant and rave about the Illuminati or some other bat crazy conspiracy theory at every possible opportunity.
If you don't like it, don't read it, but if you absolutely must read it then definitely don't respond to it, because that just helps ensure that it stays on the front page.
And for those just waiting to call me a hypocrite, I have no problem with flames or dumb "cool story bro" pics being posted in response; you want to say it's a stupid thread, go for it, that's what forums are all about. It just started getting lame when people started insisting that Jay alter his posting patterns to suit their viewing preferences - especially considering that if they weren't conservative-leaning threads, they would have picked up few if any such complaints. |

| Don't respond to it? Maybe Jay shouldn't read our comments if he doesn't like them. Thought police indeed. :stongue: |

Good effort, but Jay isn't telling people that they're not allowed to comment. He's just responding to the comments. That's the difference. |
