Gotta make this a quick one, but just wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate the thoughts/reviews/comments/shenanigans. I've been dealing with some internet issues at home, so I'm relegated to being Blackberry guy right now, but I do have a couple of responses for a handful of you all that I'd like to share, so hopefully once my issues with the magical, magical internet are resolved, I can get to those.

Oh, but one other quick note: you all have no idea how much it means to me to have basically bailed on this place for entirely selfish reasons and still get the kind of love I get from you all.
In a world that feels so utterly far removed from the world of EDM, it means everything to me. Thank you. |

Great set man, really helped me ease into trying to finish up a load of school work before heading to Miami. Nice thumpin, jazzy tunes, lots of great stuff. In particular, jupiterone's remix of fever was fire, and I really loved the section preceding it.
All around mint tunes and excellent mixing as usual. Hope you keep coming back here to throw down your sets, if not I'll just catch em on facebook. I actually drove up through, and subsequently back down through, Steven's Point on the way up to Rhinelander this winter to see relatives. I was considering checking to see if you were playing anywhere that week, but unfortunately I didn't have any time. :( |

| Really enjoying this mix man. Perfect combo of smoothness and grooviness. The mixing is also unbelievably smooth. I seriously have not noticed one transition. That could be because I'm high, but that's besides the point. Anyways, great job with this man. Look forward to moar. |

I don't think I can take on the entirety of your review, but there are a few things I'd like to make note of. It seems the biggest issue you raise is flow, a valid concern in terms of how most folks look at EDM, and specifically "promo mixes." Audiences want something that will hook them and keep them dancing, and as such that is often reflected in promotional mixes.
But here's the thing: would you believe me if I told you this wasn't a promo mix? Hear me out here...
I am so entirely removed from the "scene" (as it were), I haven't been out or played out in a major market venue in about two years now, and I certainly haven't opened for any named talent in that time. Gigs I've played have been procured either by local name recognition/reputation here in Wisconsin or friends who've moved on in the live music scene throughout the Midwest and keep me in mind. The 2010 Summer Camp DJ competition is about the biggest thing I've been involved in over the past couple years (voting opens April 16th, stay tuned for spam ;)).
To make an already long story short, when I put a mix together these days, it's motivation is entirely to make something I want to listen to - no joke, I really think absolutely nothing of how people will react to it in terms of booking me or publicity, something I'll openly admit was always at least in the back of my mind for many years.
It's a double edged sword - I feel it makes me far more satisfied with what I do as a hobby/form of stress release, but it also leads to some kind of weird moments that might not resonate so much with people who aren't me. All in all, though, it's a lot like the feeling one has when they first start mixing and feel like they can do whatever they want, whenever they want - and it's a nice one to have.
Anyway - just wanted to share that lil' nugget with ya, and as always I appreciate the review and the humbling words.

Heh - awesome. Not in Point anymore, about an hour East in Appleton (my hometown), but yeah - if you're in Wisco anytime, look me up/Facebook me/etc.

That's unfortunate - I was pretty pleased with ending it on the classic Chandler/Sydenham stuff, but I'm glad you liked the rest of it. They certainly are at least a touch different than what precede them, but overall I was just feeling the jazz vibe and thought those kind of capped that off well.

Heck yes! I was actually just going through the series of "From Glannie" folders I've got over the years and was wondering how you were doin.

Totally understand, Rob... and really, I was only basing those particular comments on the sole fact that the filename said "March 2010 Promotional Mix" in it. Solely on its own merit and as a listening piece, it's well beyond solid. :) |

Those two lil' passages are probably two of my proudest moments of live DJ'ing just because they literally came out exactly as I'd hoped yet were mixed and looped entirely on the fly (save for my own editing and setting up my loop markers for "Mainline" and "Otro..." in advance). |
