j, what are those green things? they look cantaloupish and very yummy |
cantaloupe ice cream popsicles...they are the best thing ever. You might be able to find them in Mass, because when i asked the manager of the supermarket here how the hell they had them (it is mostly chinese and japanese items), he told me that they started worldwide distribution a few months back. I forget the english name they come in, but when i go back to do groceries this weekend i will get it for you...i'm guessing the hangul translation is not the same, it rarely is. |

My mother-in-law's noodles > his ramen
This was actually the cause of a minor argument between me and my fiancé. Every single time I visited her mother-in-law, the good old lady made me either soba or udon. Every single time, and I absolutely loved it! I'd gaily pig it out, as the noodles slurped, and I quaffed the soup like a Somalian bulimic model just back from rehab. And then my fiancée told her mother to stop making it so often, because she thought I was just being polite.
Wrath, that's what I felt. Wrath, fury, and ire  |
soba noodles are healthier than all of the other alternatives, buckwheat provides the essential ingredients to massive dumps...and at least here in montreal, i can get a pack of soba for onl;y a few cents more than unhealthy ramen. |

Yeah, that's the one whose name I'm trying to remember. What was his name? He disappeared a few months after miss_e/Elena emancipated from TA, and she's also in NY now :p

Soba is slightly more expensive here, but I think it makes more sense to eat it instead of ramen here as well.
Good call, Jay :) |

i am surprised that you did not break down my alt name on a linguistic level as the meaning is quite controversial:p
i can't pretend to know the prices in Brazil, but the asian community here is large, so the prices are amazing. I try to do my groceries at asian markets now, as i have mastered continental cuisine, but am working on bringing my asian cuisine that i learned in the continent to the next level.....i made an awesome beef, peppers, broccoli, and mein sein noodles in szechuan black bean sauce (homemade) tonight.:p |

The Asian community here is large as well (as you can probably tell from my photos :p), but ramen is so ubiquitous that it's sold as local food, so it's obviously easier to find it.
And your dinner sounds yummy. I'm just going to have some gnocchi my father brought me :D |

| BS. Generally-speaking, the best ramen in Japan is in Fukuoka. Although one of the restaurants near me does the best ramen I've ever tasted. And for about a tenth of the price. |
