What happened to Sander Kleinenberg last night? In all honesty, that was the worst professional set I've ever heard. I've seen Sander twice in Miami. Last time was in 2008 when he torched the Space Terrace with a hair raising progressive set. This was the first time he dropped The Sun Aint Shining No More. Before that was 2007 at the Cameo in Miami Beach when he again delivered a very cool set. I have many of his EP's, sets and CD's ... they're consistently great progressive house.
The buildup for last night was awesome and Alain Octavo was great. Real consistent and dark progressive set. Then Sander showed up a little before 1:00 am and by 1:15, it was clear that the train wreck had began. I'm not sure how to classify what he was spinning, but it was awful. It was like mashups of funky house, Indie and Nu Disco with ridiculous vocals. It totally brought us down. He never recovered until his last tune which was a decent progressive tune and Alain took back over and put a positive ending on the night.
Sander had a mic and said that the tunes he played were his new stuff that no one had yet heard. Well if he's planning to bring that to WMC next week, I would strongly encourage him to reconsider. Miami won't be as nice in accommodating a stunt like this. I know for certain that Space would clear our if someone pulled that.
Wish I had a better report, but it truly sucked. He's going to LA tonight, so heads-up people. |

| Yeah, I'll have to agree with the last poster's assessment of Sander Kleinenberg last night. It was my first time seeing him and I was interested to see how his live set was going to be, having only heard his mixed compilations before and not really impressed with them to be honest. In any case, some friends told me that he is really good live, so I wanted to check it out. Boy was I disappointed. There just was no energy in his set. I thought maybe it was just me - that I was tired or something - but, as much as I wanted to, I just couldn't get into his set. Sander came on at 1 and I left Ruby at about 1:45. Maybe it picked up afterward...??? |

| ah man. I'm a big fan of Sander. Loved seeing him play when i was in LA. I guess he's needs to come to SF a little more often learn something from the locals :) |

It was alright last night , I give it 3 out of 5 , nothing spectacular but nothing to be extremely disspointed about considering that i already had in mind that sander has not been the same since 2007 or maybe more . I'm just intrigued about the guy because he used to be on my " top 5 djs that i want to see list " a long time a go .
anyhow got there around 11 ish , the warm up dj was pretty solid maybe a little bit too dark and deep for what was a bout to come later on , but solid in general terms.
sander came in and the place was already more than half packed . Musically I think the guy has to reinvent himself one more time , funny though he played some of my fav tracks from 2009 that i would not have expected him to drop like
jamie jones - leetric feel
Luna city express - mr jack
also
daft punk - harder better faster stronger ( remix ???? )
some dan ghenacia track . ???
Some cheese was involved which i was expecting but i guess I went with the mentality to overlook it, he also managed to include in his set some cool breaks that !!!!! got me going .
Fun night I guess this is how it goes when you go with a positive disposition  |
