Sorry to be so blunt, but you guys are falling into the same trap as the GU series. There are plenty of good DJs around, why only stick to the same handful of Cattaneo, Tomiie, Seaman, and Zabiela with the occasional Gui Boratto thrown in for "variation"?
Stepping out of the general Renaissance paradigm and getting M.A.N.D.Y. to do one was brilliant, IMO and something that should be done more often. ;) |

hey woscar
actually our past three releases leading up to james have been new signings, which as you partly point out have been mandy, gui and paul woolford.
but in answer to your question, the reason you see repeated artists is two-fold:
1) all labels deal in options. it is very rare any record company will sign an artist for a single album
2) perhaps most importantly, there aren't that many djs who justify a compilation. don't get me wrong, we'd love to be more experimental and over the years have tried releases with fresher talent, but the sales simply weren't / aren't there. the repetition is as much down to the record buying public. it's really not fair to accuse labels of lack of support (which i frequently see) toward the nu-skool, if the sales were there to begin with we'd be on it, trust me.

I appreciate the honesty. :p
I do think you should give your own brand more credit, as it is already a big, established name in the EDM world and should be able to sell a fair number of records based on that alone. If the sales aren't there, then I guess it's the consumer's fault for not wanting to step outside of their comfort zones, I guess. :( |
