Guvernment with M. Oliver

My girlfriend expressed a desire to go to Guvernment yesterday. I was reluctant to go at first, since as far as I heard Mark Oliver is usually playing on regular nights. However we did go, and boy - was I surprised. We didn't stay long(my girlfriend is not a all-night clubber type), however while we were there Mark Oliver really impressed me. He was playing a lot of trance(ie. Three Drives - Carrera 2) and a lot of really banging progressive. Lazer was as great as always, but what's best is that they opened a pretty big patio outside, where you can chill after hot temperatures inside Guv.
I guess my point is that finally you can hear Trance in Toronto again on a regular saturday ! |

Well, I just happened to come down to GUV last night, and boy was I surprised...
For some reason, it wasn't that packed at all (as it usually is), and the beats were sick... Mark played so many great songs, some of which I've never heard live in the GUV before... goddamn, he even mixed in Delerium - Silence with whatever that was (I believe it was Flight 643 but I was too mashed at the time).
And is it just me or did they finally figure out how to use those lasers in Guv, and therefore managed to put on the hypest light "performance" I've seen in a while...

This is Sooooooooooo ing weird!
I was going to start a thread EXACTLY like this today becuase i went last night and i was amazed. I wanted to praise Mark Oliver but it has already begun. He played an amzing trance set for 4 hours.... i couldnt beleive it.. apparently armin left him some of his records when he was here last..

Definetly nice to see Mark O starting to go back to trance nights at the GUv. I may start going back on regular Saturday nights if this keeps up.
I think he saw the reaction to Armin's sets here (and his own while opening). The crowd eats it up there and I think he has noticed this.
Plus if Armin is going to continue to be a regular here I think he has to esatblish and educate the crowd on good trance.

First time in about 3 years where I actually stayed on a sat night till the last track was spun....and of course it was Armin - Communication.
I only heard the last 2 hours or so of Mark's set but I was very impressed.... |

I am surprised that all of you are surprised, Mark saw how the crowd responds to AVB @ the GUV so I am guessing after stealling a couple of creates of vinyl like I mentioned earlier he decided to leave progressive after all!;)
