Yea i think we were at different parties...

Stayed till the end, my fav part being around 7pm when Loco was just making me go Loco....

That track that has the "RAUL" vocals in it, omg I need THIS ID!!!

Nice meeting Bran, and Tas were out in full force... Great night, lots of room to dance.

nice meeting u too dude.

@ alex g. - how was martin buttrich not using the sound system properly? everything from him was crystal clear and the bass sounded nice to me.

loco dice came on with a bang but then he did get a bit monotonous in the mid of set but later on he played some just amazing weird and different tracks. lots of id's to be had. was a great night overall!

Yes everything was crystal clear but there wasn't that big of a bang that came out of it. He didn't use the sound system to the fullest of it's potential. My favorit set @ "the new stere" is defenitly Peter Roeffer. He did maybe 3 build up songs and then he just LET IT RIP!!! It was pure evil troughout his set.
Maybe it's just that I have a bit diffent taste in music reason why I didn't appreciate Loco Dice's set that much. But when I go to stereo I expect to have alot of Bang up tunes that rip the dance floor. Sadly I felt that it wasn't the case that night.

Like James Holden, a lot of people get all worked up because of a few excited people, and go without having a clue what they are getting into.

Then, having false expectations mostly leads to disappointment.

Conclusion, get informed about who you are going to hear.

Yup that part was sick!!
DJ Eterno
got to stereo around 3 while livio and roby were on the decks. i think these guys were the perfect opening act for this party. except for the few train wrecks here and there. nice deep house sounds, perfect for getting a party going. they reminded me of spooky's opening set and sasha and digweed @ pepsi forum.

buttrich was ok. alot of people told me he was the life of the party. i wish i can pin point why; but i wasnt feeling his sounds. i havent seen too many live acts but the ones i have seen so far havent been out of this world. down with Junkie XL!

Loco was Solid. but this guy played ALOT of techno. something i kinda wasnt hoping for. i was hoping he would change it up a bit. technically this guy is not the best out there. his track selection was weak, rigid, lacking creativity. his mixing was also weird. he seemed to always fade a track out and slam the bassline in from the next track. so really he was mixing without beat-matching. i will give him credit though since it is something different. Loco seems to have an arrogance to him. he thinks he's a heavy in the scene but he really isnt lol.

by the way, this was my first time since stereo re-opened. wow what a venue! what a solid job they did what that space. no space waste like the old one and a less grungy look. looks like a regular hours club. i found the ventilation alot better from the first. gorgeous hardwood floors. i heard the sound at calderone was so much better. alot of you also are saying they didnt use the sound system to the fullest. a little disapopointed in that but whatever.

props to stereo and what they have done. im hoping to come back for morillo.

Yea I have to comment on the mixing as well, I heard quite a few slides, even though he was playing vynil.

Hisham, stop hating on the techno, there was maybe 1 hour he was really pounding it, which by far was my favorite part, man I NEED AN ID FOR THAT TRACK that goes "RAUL" + spanish vocals...

Dirty tribal techno feel to it.. mmmm...

It is true tho, I did not like all of his set, for about an hour he totally lost me... But overall it was good.

I arrived when Buttrich was on and there was a totally kind loungy groove going on, it was alright, nothing special tho.

Guys, (Zeksg, Erika and maher don't hate me too much for this) I really didn't enjoy the night all that much. Martin played a live set, very slow, low energy. Great music but innapropriate for the venue. It was more piknicish music than anything else. Didn't use the sound system whatsoever. You're at stereo goddam it drop some evil bass!!! Wow factor 0. I sat down for most of it. Then loco came. Had high hopes. For the first 1:30 (5->6:30) slow boring monotonous music. Same drops all the time. And he just kept streeettchingg it.. I wanted to leave. The crowd for the most part wasn't digging it. Many of my friends left cuz they didn't like it. It's the emptiest I've seen stereo in a very long time. Finally at 6:30ish he started getting serious and the set really came alive. LOVED IT. but the energy wasn't there anymore. I left at 7:20 on a good note. Very muh night overall. I guess joubin set the bar way too high :)

I wasn't there :p but this is actually a good review and said (wrote) what you felt.

k, i just finished writing my last paper of my university career, so no huge review...i'll just say this:

simply ing mad! great party, i lasted til about 815am, i agree about the monotony of loco's set but it didn't last long. livio & roby and buttrich were quality also. overall, one of the best nights i've had at the new stereo. , i love that room...oh anddddd, loco dice is ing HOT. :D

/lamest review ever

Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself. First off, it was also my first time since Stereo has reopened. I've been wanting to go since but I haven't been drawn in by any of the DJs so far... and forget the super secret stereo saturdays, I'm not down. lol

It felt really good walking back into Stereo again, wow has it changed. Walking up those steps for the first time is a great memory and I almost felt the same way again this time. Love the new setup. They really used the room, great dance floor, vip area is very nice place to chill and have a smoke, watch the party a bit. I forgot how good that place sounds, ahhh "the temple". :D I miss the days were there was no question which afterhours we were going to. That's changed a lot for me in the past 2 years.

I didn't plan to go to Stereo that night, but I was happy to see Loco Dice was on the flyer when I walked in. I've heard many sets and a couple of mixes/albums from Loco over the past 4 years so I thought I knew what to expect. I was mistaken, --> I completely agree with the review from DJ Eterno about Loco Dice. I'm glad there were others paying attention, I didn't think I was being too picky.

A few of his mixes I actually looked around to see if I was the only one hearing that bull, lol. Are you sure he was playing vinyl? It looked to me like Ableton, but I wasn't sure. For his sake I hope it was vinyl. And you're right, he was acting too cocky for someone that wasn't destroying us. $45? Normally the price to see an international DJ doesn't bother me, but this time, this guy just wasn't worth it. Maybe $10 at piknic. I'm not sure how this guy gets by. Either way, I had a blast, there were some great points during the night, like a few of you said, around 6:30-7AM he really picked it up and slammed us, danced until 8 and left on a good note. There are a couple of ID's that I'd love to know. Oh well, NEXT! :)

Can't wait to see a proper DJ destroy that place again. It's great to be back!
brancatella
he was using traktor & ableton ..stretching out loops is what he was doing..thats why it seemed like their was no beatmatching..cause his mixes were very short and his tracks all had very similiar percs and arrangements.
