/// VINCENT LEMIEUX
For almost a decade, Vincent Lemieux has played an integral role in Montreal’s internationally acclaimed dance-music community. Lemieux is man who wears many different hats: curator, label owner, DJ, producer, taste-maker… this is a man who has done it all and inflected every project in his association with an indelible personal style.
Internationally, Vince is probably best known as one of the curators behind Montreal’s MUTEK Festival. Since 2000, he has helped shape his hometown conception of progressive electronic music through the acts he brings to town. When not programming the festival, Lemieux hosts two of the most cutting-edge techno weeklies in the city. His long-running Tuesday night at Salon Daomé, where he DJ’s alongside world-class talent, has become a staple in Montreal’s nightlife. Claude Von Stroke, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Zip, Sammy D, they’ve all graced the decks at Daomé courtesy of Vince.
As label owner of Musique Risquée, which he started with Akufen’s Marc Leclair, Lemieux is also responsible for fostering local and international talent. The label has released work by Atom TM, Akufen, Bruno Pronsatto, The Mole, Jichael Mackson, Guillaume & the Coutu-Dumonts, Philippe Cam, and others. Musique Risquée tracks have been featured on compilations by Crosstown Rebels, Tigersushi, Fabric, and Freud Am Tanzen. Vince has also spawned the city’s Soirée Risquée nights, now with over 30 incarnations, showcasing the label’s fine roster to enthusiastic fans.
Yet it is his work as a DJ that has caught the ears of the most listeners. Lemieux has toured the world as an ambassador for Montreal’s distinctive brand of micro-house. As the official MUTEK DJ, his sets have been a staple of festival showcase from China to Paris to Berlin and back. His DJing skills have found fervent followers all over the world, at events in Spain (Sonar), Mexico (MUTEK_MX), Chile (MUTEK_CL), and Argentina (MUTEK_AR).
Since 2006, Lemieux has been expanding into music production through collaborations with Guillaume Coutu-Dumont (as Flabbergast) and Stephen Beaupré (as Brandy Snifter). In the next year, focus will shift increasingly to recording music and moving into the one domain of electronic music he has yet to conquer.

/// HAKIM GUELMI
Starting off like most aspiring DJs, Guelmi began collecting and spinning Progressive House and Techno records, learning the technique of mixing on traditional turntables, like the Technics sl-1200. After a year of connecting and working closely with established people in the scene, and with a stern work ethic of his own, he managed to attain two Pioneer CDJs and the very rare Vestax PMC-CX mixer, designed by Carl Cox. Today he swears by these tools, as he still uses them to perfect his mixing skills. He believes the future is undoubtedly with the reputable Allen and Heath series Xone 92.
Today, Guelmi has no reason not to feel very proud of his accomplishments. Considering James Holden, Sven Vath, Ritchie Hawtin and Danny Howells as his major international influences, Guelmi's style has evolved into a bone-chilling dark, hybrid version of Techno, Tech-House and Minimal. Nitpicking the best of each genre, he manages to weave an energetic web of heart-pulsating beats making his set any dancer's dream. Constantly practicing, his mixing technique exudes confidence. By organizing and promoting events for the Velvet Club since October ‘07, Guelmi has managed to play alongside international talents as Desyn Masiello, Pedro Bucarelli, Maher Daniel, Creator, Preach ... Hakim Guelmi's fanbase keeps growing on a weekly basis and he has already begun to inspire younger first-steppers into the scene.
Proving his value and worth are a key element for the continuation of the growing electronic dance music scene, Hakim Guelmi looks to the future feeling positive and confident, knowing that it is his unbending determination that will bring him where he wants.

/// RENE BENOIT
Rene Benoit is a forward thinking artist, obscuring the boundaries of Minimal, Tech house and Techno, crafting a sound that is unique and all his own. Never content with the status quo this is an artist with an opinion.
Establishing himself in Montreal in 2007 René Benoit was well received and quickly got involved in the local techno scene. Promoters, club owners and patrons alike quickly learned that René Benoit is an artist you can rely on and he quickly proved himself to be a step above the rest.
Willing to push the sonic boundary to take people and sound to a new level, this artist's reputation as a man who constantly delivers and never disappoints continues to grow.
Deciding early in 2008 that he wanted to add more to the scene surrounding him, René Benoit wished to take on the world of production where upon he created and established his emergent record label, Move The Masses. This artist is not only the complete package of DJ/Producer/ Promoter but a staple of the Canadian techno community and an artist destined for international success.

/// VJ BANDIT
“Nick Benidt’s live experimental cinema: destruction becomes a reconstructive process, a complex juxtaposition of disjoined realities creating subliminal worlds of reverie. His VJing act disintegrates the images it uses out of their context into a superimposition of colours and forms, shapes and textures, movements and gestures…”
