| In the digital age, I can't see any significant impact that different regions can have on music production. |

i see a lot of the more recent nudisco stuff was made by east euros
also like someone above said russians have a thing for making psy/darkpsy/psyambient where it just comes out so moody and atmospheric |

| friend of mine never played a good set that had people dancing when he played minimal. then he played this amazing hypnotic set and everyone at our beach party were dancing, he said he downloaded a bunch of minimal from a couple of russian labels. it was definitely more simplistic/generic sounding tracks though, where each track is not trying so hard to make a big impact. but damn when put together it made a great set. ive been meaning to tell him to give me his cds he spun that day. |

This must be the dumbest thread in ages.
This idiot of a trance cracker comes along and bashes an entire region. What a piece of . |

That's a massively stupid statement. You can go to two cities here less than 50 miles apart and find very different scenes with different sounds. Dancing still actually happens in the real world and what happens on dancefloors has a massive effect on what people go home and make. |

Yeah, I almost commented on that. Different places still have very different scenes and musical cultures.
A few young producers may get all their inspiration from the latest Beatport top ten or Internet show -- in fact some people in the Production Forum admit to never having been to a club night -- but they're hardly the majority. |

"Significant" is the key word, though I should have elaborated. I meant in comparison to 10-15 years ago because of the prevalence of all types of genres around the world.
What people hear isn't directly linked to solely what their local and travelling DJs are playing, because they can hear the latest release from someone on the day of release in any part of the world without even needing to go to a club.
I agree with you guys that local scenes have an impact (of course they do, that's quite obvious), but I disagree that it's anywhere near the level that it used to be. The lines are far more blurred now. |
