Ableton Snap to grid..

I've only been using Ableton a short time but I've found that samples will slowly move off their snapped position on the grid when repeated over time, when trying to correct this another issue arises - the more zoomed out from the track you are the less fine the grid is so you are unable to snap samples exactly how you want them unless you zoom in quite far first.

See screenshot below, in this example, selecting the start of the sample in light green is impossible as the grid is not fine enough in this mode, any advice welcome!

Highlight the sample and also the remaining part of the bar near it, then click "Consolidate loop" in the right click menu. That should give you a sample that will be the exact length of the bar (or quarter bar or whatever), and then you can copy and paste that instead.
Subtle
Yes consolidation is the key.

or right click anywhere where there isn't a clip and select your " adaptive grid" size to be more narrow. also like people are saying it's better to work (both on CPU & Ram) if you consolidate your samples together (especially if it's just a loop), then looping within the clip pane. drag out the box, this saves serious amounts of RAM
Fledz
Yea just drag out the box, easiest way or just right click and change the grid size.
