Go into router settings and change the channel you are broadcasting on to something else (I think there are 9 options..just pick a number a few notches away from your current setting). Some channels get interference from other electronic devices in the house which degrades the signal.
I also suggest you download the newest drivers for your laptop's wireless card. Google the model number of your laptop and find them from the manufacturer's website. That usually helps. |

make sure ur network is locked, i have the same router and initially it comes open so you have neighbors and connecting using up ur bandwidth. this one time i reset my router and got like 3 diff devices connect to my router.
other than that, follow the steps cap gave ya altho ive never had a problem with wireless speeds.

| Point your browser 192.168.1.1 and enter the username / pass. On a Linksys it's usually admin/password or admin/admin or admin with no password. |

im using firmware 1.0.03
did you already connect to your router?
via 192.168.1.1
if so,
you lock it under the wireless tab, have 'Wi-Fi Protected Setup' ticked. set up your password under 'wireless security' |

Check out the user guide.
Just fyi, because you're on cable your bandwidth will fluctuate depending on the time of day and where you live. i.e. faster between 10p-6am and slower during the day. |
