Stupidity is supreme in Philly.

I just want to rant about how ed up and provincial Philly's music "promoters" can be...

Matias Aguayo was in Philly on 3/9 at an intimate venue, the basement of Voyeur. The event was FREE and had open bar until 11. And Voyeur is allowed to stay open until until 3:30. Wow.

I posted the event in the Philly house music meetup group. A few people checked that they liked the event. But the organizer declined it as an official meetup saying it wasn't house. WTF? But the event was attended by a Who's Who of Philly DJs, including some tech house DJs. Of course they came, this is a big deal.

No other meetups got posted that week. Nothing. He didn't post up Derrick May's appearance in Philly on 3/11. Great.

I sent the Organizer (who claims to be a DJ) an email saying that an interesting EDM event will appeal to Philly house fans who are starving for good parties. It's not about spamming somebody's weekly party, but talking about interesting events. Which don't happen here that often.

It's tough down here in Philly.

That is why I love TA. It's an immersion in electronic music of many types. People simply talk about what they know and love & we learn from each other. If somebody cares about an event, they post it up and NYTA is almost always abuzz with lots of options.

Don't mean to get emo on you, but I <3 you.

philly's been stuck on the same sound for years as far as higher profile events go.

i'm not saying it's bad. hell, i dance when i go to said events. i'm just sayin there should be some variety getting pushed instead of keepin the good stuff super-underground :P
Uncle ED

Actual a meetup is trying to get people to meet inside the event. It's reserved for events that would generate interest or the organizer will be going to.

Turns out the Organizer is smart by responding to my complaints and asking me to be a co-organizer. So he's making me work rather than whine. And he suggested opening it to all forms of EDM. I can go with that. And spread the word about the awesome, but lesser known stuff.

Filthadelphia is working hard on earning it's rightful spot amng some of the most miserable cities to live in in US. HATE THIS DUMP, now even more with Nutter jackass in charge.

Ugh.

Of course, I have. Loved the Fountain Green parties in the summer & I try to catch whatever they offer. Whenever I think of growing the Philadelphia scene, I think first of Rizumu.
