Growing roses

So my roommate got some flowers that eventually withered away and dried up.

I noticed that they had all these little seedy pollen things inside the flower. Are those little seed looking things the seeds for making more roses?

I've planted the hundreds of them, but I'm wondering if these were indeed the seeds, and if they will grow.

Also what type of conditions do roses prefer to grow.

Anyone know this?

I've never planneted anything in my life before, so I really don't know what to say. How did you plannet them? :D

1.) Google
2.) Wikipedia
3.) If you think it's pollen, it's probably pollen and you just wasted a bunch of your time. Good job.

See this is why I'm asking this question.

1. I have grown a number of spices... multiple generations of them from their seeds...

Roses do have seeds.. but they come in seed pods I think called the "rose hips" the rose hips are edible.
Thing is I'm not 100% these are roses.. they are white and pink flowers that look like roses. The stuff inside the flower on the bud reminded me of the seeds from the spices I grew.

But they were relatively small. I havn't been able to find a picture that looks like the flowers yet...

I think they are roses, will keep searhing.. but roses definately DO have seeds.

those are pollen sacks, you don't put them in dirt, you basically put it in a small small container (think about when you go to mcdonalds and get the little ketchup cups), cover it up with foil and let the pollen expand and explode. then, you brush that pollen onto the stigma of the rose and wait for it to create the bulbs, they'll turn orange and basically create seeds within the bulb sacks (hips)

however, this is such a waste of time. you're better off getting new roses

rose leaves taste wonderful if crushed up and added as a seasoning to rice you are boiling.
