Ok so I bought yet another bike --- the one I got at walmart last year I only was able to ride a couple times it has a life time warranty but I've been unable to enter the US to make use of the warranty So I just bought a new bike - this one is dual suspension.. and I intend to use it up on the logging roads that are up north, instead of hiking I'm going to do trail riding - with some hiking.
Here is the thing I am wondering though 2 questions.
First is there a spray that will make tires better and less prone to damage?
OK I'm considering a 100KM bike ride daytrip - what should you bring.. is this difficult? Has anyone done long distance bike rides? |

depending on what you're going to ride on you can get tyres with kevlar & stuff inside to make them puncture proof. for an example - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...x?ModelID=24542
And learn some basics, how to change a tyre, how to fix your chain, how to clean out things properly, a well maintained bike will get you way further & smoother, although with what you've probably spent on it it'll be a warhorse, well over 30-35lbs |

| are the roads paved or dirt? 100 km on a paved road that is flat is not that hard. you can probably travel pretty light with just food, water, and repair stuff. |

slime can be a bit icky though and adds a lot of weight which isn't ideal for long distances.
tbh though, 100km isn't THAT big as Melissa said, I've done about 50km in 3 hours at a very leisurely pace in the heat and so long as you stay hydrated you'd easily go all day at that pace. |

It is side road so it is likely paved.
I'm not expecting it to be "hard" but I think averaging 10km / hour is doable so it shouldn't take more than half a day.
But there are other considerations like... are there tricks to keep your but comfortable - can you get ass blisters... how much water should I bring? should I stop to eat? Should I wait 30 minutes to an hour before biking again after eating etc..
It is just under 70 miles. |
