Im a newbie dj ... don`t know too much about mixing yet .. still playing with the basics. My question is this : I`m spinning trance on twin 1210 M3D ... my mixer is currently a Numark 2002X. Would I improve If I changed to say a pioneer djm 600 or a vestax 275. Which of this would you recommend? I`m a student so I`m not really high on funds .. help would be appreciated.

I don't know what the Numark 2002x is. I tried to find a picture but Numark's product list doesn't show.

If you're justing in it to learn basic skills, what you have now will get you there. Even some of the more advanced skills like beatswapping, backspins and scratching is all there. Pioneer DJM-600 adds effects and sampling which is fun too but I feel it distracts the user from perfecting basic skills and creativity. The only reason why I see a need to upgrade would be for perhaps better sound quality out of your mixer.

yeah .. soundquality is suffering bad because of this mixer ... and the kill hats are SUCKY. They take it all when I turn 90 degrees .. and nothing further down. Do you know anything about the vestax 275? It looks pure sexy ... hehe .. I want that .. but not if the pio 600 is much better ...

I've used both Pioneer 600 and Vestax 275. The 600 has more bells and whistles but I think you'll be more than happy with the 275. I've read a lot of mixer reviews and there has been no complaints.

let me give you my advice :)
i.m.o. since you are a starter, I don't think you should spend lots for a mixer... why don't you buy something cheap? (djm300 etc)
you could spend the rest of the money to buy 12"s or something else...

for example I have : which is totally unknown to you, but I am very satisfied!

so learn with the mixer you have, and then upgrade to an expensive one (djm500 or xone or smthing like that)

anyway the decision is yours :)

As a beginner the mixer you have is more than enough. If you were to switch to a higher end mixer for some reason the I would say the djm 600. It's the standard mixer in my area and all the venues use it. for 1k it's a very very good mixer.

yup I agree with andrew K. you need a basic mixer, and spend all your money on good TT's and 12"

depends all on your budget though. If you can easily afford it, go for a higher end mixer, else go for the 12"s
