The big difference is that each person that uses the TTC already pays for its service.
The roads analogy would only work if the roads were toll roads. |
the point is that northern ontario gets benefits from us. Id love to see them go off on their own. Theyd be a 3rd world country. |

which are?
If this were quebec id say cheap energy. But northern ontario industry is very heavily subsidized by the government. And they have more services per capita than torontonians.
So i still fail to see how they are the net losers in all of this. |

You are right, Northern Ontario is subsidized heavily. Southern Ontario benefits largely from the mining, forestry, and to a lesser extent hydroelectricity industries of the north. |

There are 1mm public sector workers in Ontario?!?!?!?
I think much more than a pay freeze is needed (how about a reduction in staff by 50%). Privatization is long overdue. |

Do you know how many of them are making 100.000+?
More than 100 cops and, I think, same from TTC. |

American unemployment rate is at 10.4% while Canada's unemployment rate is at 8.2%.
Public sector workers have basically guaranteed jobs with excellent benefits and pensions, despite current economic conditions.
DO YOU REALLY THINK NOW IS THE TIME TO COMPLAIN???? |

Agreed, %10000000000000000. Quality over quantity. But this is a Liberal government that is very against making cuts as opposed to increasing taxes and "user fees". |
