the region of Chechnya has be a sore spot for way too long... the Russian pres. and the Chechen one really need to get to the bottom of this ASAP

That's exactly right, there's a lot of bad blood between them and a very bloody history......some wounds are hard to heal.....
Not fair to say ALL Chechens, Georgians etc are extremists though.........

with Medvedev as the president and Putin behind, fully supporting him...this could easily be the biggest mistake they ever made!!!

some wounds never heal, right. killing 186 CHILDREN should never be forgotten !!!

this has nothing to do with Georgia, few weeks ago Russians killed a very known chechen rebel known for past terrorist acts so this is a retaliation by them

I went to Moscow last year and actually passed through one of the stations hit this morning. Between this and the bombing on the Nevsky train between St Petes and Moscow (which I took when I was there) - it is weird to think how little I knew of the instability there when I visited.

i never knew you went to moscow last year, how did you like it?

to be honest with you, it was unheard of even 10 years ago to have a bomb blast happen anywhere in moscow, just like it was unheard of to a have a blast in nyc or london or on a spanish train. It is not more unstable than anywhere else in the world and is still safe to travel to, we have tight police and security presence at all times, terrorists on the other hand can target any part of the world and hurt plain citizen to prove their point across, it could happen anywhere really, even in our own city unfortunately..

people were discussing if russia should retaliate against whomever is responsible for the bombings and how some of the world wouldnt agree with certain methods which may be considered. i was saying that i believe russia should fight back an eye for an eye.

open your eyes people, today it happened in russia, how long do you think is it gonna take for those extremists to start detonating in our own neighborhood???

We took care of some of them with the Toronto 18. We need help of the friendly moderates from the inside to weed out the extremists. It's that tiny minority who generate the worst image in a community, and they need to be weeded out.

i agree but :

quote:
One man has been convicted, four more have pleaded guilty, and the group's leader has been sentenced to life in prison. Six more are awaiting trial. Seven had the charges against them withdrawn or suspended, but the media are not allowed to report why according to Canadian law.

according to Canadian law?? what the that means??

not releasing everybody names because of "canada's youth criminal justice act"??? so, fully trained terrorists will be freed for the reasons that we do not know, probably completely reintegrated into the society??

but this is the best part, this is the part that makes me shudder :

quote:
These are kids at a transition, between Islamic society and Western society. A lot of people will get militarized if they're unsure of their own identity. They're just young and stupid. If you're 17, bored, restless, you want to meet girls – hey, be a radical."

these are the words of a canadian, giving an excuse for this...madness. i agree, we all did stupid, balsy thing to impress girls, get a good status with your peers but.... learning how to make a wmd out of manure??? give me a ing break !!!

we didnt take care of some of them man, we were ing lucky that time, pure and simple.

yet, almost nobody gives a about this, on a day to day basis. you say minority and i agree on that too. but, whats 1% of one million??
