Thats because he's subsubsubsubsubteranian what with how underground he is:eyes:
But yeah, this is interesting and bad and dangerous and sad. I don't really know about armada as a label, but if they do this and others follow, and podcast makers actually take it seriously, its going to remove a huge promotional tool both for DJs AND producers. I wouldn't know about a lot of the music on my computer right now except for podcasts. This scene is half built on them and armada are being datft by trying to block them. |

So very true, and it's not going to change anything anyway - people who want the tracks illegally will get them one way or another anyway. |

I haven't posted on here in years, but I thought I'd chime in. I don't whore Armada, but I just went through my beatport crate which has 18 tracks in it, 8 of which were on Armada sublabels. Thats nearly $20 they won't be seeing from me on a monthly basis.
Let's see how long this lasts... |

Oh they have been doing this for years. The big labels (in the trance scene at least) have been complaining about downloadable DJ sets for a long time. I think I started to get my first notices around 2003 or so.
They have a lot of staff that needs to get paid by the end of the month (and who can't benefit from any gig salaries or other perks producers/artists might get) so they get paranoid about internet downloads. Thinking podcasts/downloadable promo sets are hurting their bottom line.
I stopped using stuff from those labels (including sublabels) and found out I didn't miss them too much in my sets anyways |

I think this will just hurt them in a long run. Podcasts and radio shows are where many find the music they like and potentially buy. If you haven't heard the track, you don't buy it since you don't know it.
Of course this is probably not a problem with those who listens only to ASOT but for the others it's not that good thing. After all as the Mr. Mystery said, some of those sublabels actually releases good tracks every now and then. |

well i don't have a podcast, i have a live radioshow and i don't know if i am affected, if they send me an email telling me to stop using their material i'd have to stop obviously.
From Armada i like John O'Callaghan's tracks but recently FSOE (Aly & Fila label) became a sublabel of armada this is more annoying because there's some great producers on that label.
Shah music, Coldharbour... |

As far as I am concerned the entire Armada family of labels no longer has any artistic vision, only a monetary one. Ever noticed that you can't really tell the difference between Coldharbour and ASOT/Armada releases recently? The majority of all their sub labels sound exactly the same... What is the point of its existence again? Just another reason why trance is dead. Armada eats another label, and then slowly but surely that label loses its sound(if it ever had one in the first place). |

The only good thing about Armada is that they buy the rights to old classics and re-release them on digital format.
I also like Cyber Records. |
