I'm not talking about depth or character development. I'm talking about it being clichéd. Clichés are predictable and predictable things aren't scary. There seems to be this idea that a good horror film is all about an interesting central idea, so film scholars can talk about the psychological/social fears the film "preys" upon, and everyone ignores the fact the rest of the film is totally sign-posted. If you've seen as many horror films as I have, this is just boring.

That was my first thought at the beginning of the movie. 2 terrible actresses, but thankfully that problem got sorted in the most efficient manner.

Exactly - the beginning just zoomed by and the cliche was so sarcastic that everyone in the theater was going WHAT? and laughingtheir asses off.

just read the plot summary on Wikipedia. And that's the closest I'll come to seeing that movie. But I couldn't stop thinking about it all day!
