Real drum samples

What are your recommendations for sample packs of actual drum kits and hits? I already have Battery 2 and the basic BFD, and I also look on FreeSound for drum hits occasionally, but am looking for more sounds to expand my library.

Is there anything else you would recommend? Should I upgrade my Battery? Are the BFD expansion packs good?

My Bad did not read it right!
Actual drum kits and hits, get a mic and sample your own!

Don't have a drum kit, don't know any drummers, don't have proper recording equipment for drums, so that is right out.

Some of the best drums I've heard have been the ocean wave drum packs.

They were recorded in a great studio, with SERIOUS vintage mics by people who are the best in the business.

Not cheap but definately worth checking out.

All the BFD packs are stunning imho. Although I don't have them on my new DAW (haven't had the need for that sort of sound yet), I expect to install them all at some stage.

But it depends on what sounds you need - they are great for acoustic sounds but not for trance.

Yeah, I hardly make trance anymore. I am more interested in sounds for downtempo stuff.

I am also interested in this. For now I use some one shots that I cut from real loops.

The Ocean Wave drum packs that DJ RANN mentioned are superb - Sonar 8.5 owners got a free pack of them with the last update and they sound excellent, but they aren't very cheap.

You might want to check out some of the Big Fish Audio sample packs, particularly:

- Smokers Relight (Parts 1 and Deux)
- Chill (1 and 2)
- Sunrise Sessions
- Sunset Sessions
- 101 Below
- 102 Below

I have a few of these and I really like the Smokers Relight 2, Sunset Sessions, and 101 Below. They all come with a ton of loops, which I don't find very useful, but they have 100s of one-shots in each pack.

For downtempo stuff I tend to use Stylus RMX a lot as it has an amazing ability to take any rex sample and make it adhere to any tempo and beat that you want it to - all on the fly. Latin, jazz, 9/7 time, reggae, whatever.

How about these? The NI's were recorded at Abbey Road and just got released recently.
