'David Guetta Builds A Bridge Between Dance Music And The Mainstream'

"...After all of the collaborations, like the Black Eyed Peas did with David Guetta ['I Gotta Feeling,' which Guetta produced with Will.I.Am] and Kelly Rowland ['When Love Takes Over'], I think that woke up the whole scene. Everybody wants to be a part of dance music."

Dance music has already been mainstream for a long time.

"I always felt that our music was underrated," Guetta told MTV News recently. "I felt that it should be as big as hip-hop and rock. It happened this year with my album One Love. This is still a huge, fantastic, underground scene. But that bridge that I created between electronic Euro culture and American urban culture really made a difference, I think. To finally have dance-music records being played on the radio in America is pretty incredible.

I laughed at this part:

Respected by most in music, Guetta has been on a dream run with a series of collaborations (with folks like the Peas, Akon, Estelle, LMFAO, Ne-Yo, and Kid Cudi) that have done as much to make dance music mainstream as they have to turn the DJ/producer into a global superstar. On an average weekend, he spins records for a 100,000 people (like he did at the recent in Miami).

Agreed, I did a hearty lul. I like how people said he's such a nice guy, too. He's a twat.
Chimney
He's a fudge-packer and should throw himself off that bridge.

Why doesn't a "journalist" or writer with some integrity cut through this bull and tell it like it is? Is it because no one would listen? Or is it because we are the deluded ones and "everyone else" is right? Why can't someone from one of the bigger music magazines ask some REAL questions? Rrrrrrrrrrr capitalism man. I would like a "the daily show" of electronic music, or even someone like Michael Moore (yes I agree his documentaries are journalism but they do raise important points and get people to think).
MrJiveBoJingles
Probably because the PR teams of mega-big artists make sure that their interviewers will throw them only softballs.

:p

Why don't you do it? :p

Yes he has built a bridge.
Definatly.
Before he came along , you turned on the radio and it played pop songs.
You go out round town on a night out and it played dance remixes of pop songs.
Now you hear the same version wether your in you car or a nightclub.

in excellent bridge.
